Light-Sized Jet

A light sized jet costs a total of about $700,000-$850,000 to operate on an annual basis. They can carry up to 8 passengers. These are a great option to consider if you’re wanting to fly your own aircraft and keep most of your flights domestic. While their ranges vary greatly, light jets typically fly between 2.5 and 3.75 hours at about 450mph, which is equivalent to 1000 or nearly 2500 miles.

Some light-sized jet options are the Beechcraft Premier I, Bombardier Learjet models, Cessna Citation models, the Eclipse 550, Pilatus PC-24, and the Nextant 400XT.

Mid-Sized Jet

Jets in the mid-sized category can typically accommodate an average of 10 passengers. They are typically designed for business use with a greater amount of amenities and in-cabin productivities than smaller jets. These jets can reach speeds of about 500mph and can travel up to about 3600 miles or about 5 hours nonstop. Outside of the initial cost of acquisition, annual operating costs of jets in this category can be anywhere between $1.2-2 million per year.

Some options for mid-sized jets include the Bombardier Challenger 300, various models of the Cessna Citation, Dassault Falcon 50, and the Gulfstream 100 & 150.

Heavy Jet

Large, heavy jets typically fly around 8 hours or more, reaching speeds of about 580mph. Typically, they can carry between 15-18 people. They can typically travel about 6000 miles and are able to operate in most weather conditions due to their weight. As a result, heavy jets are the best choice for international travel or flights going across the United States as they can fly nonstop for longer distances. Annual operating costs run around $2 million.

Jets in this category include Dassault Falcon 7X, Bombardier Global 6000, Embraer Legacy 600, and the Gulfstream GIV.
